- Keep continuous tension on the muscles throughout the movement, squeezing the abs hard throughout the movement
- Do not use momentum to lift your body, but rather a controlled uniform motion
- Activate the abdominals by squeezing hard prior to the movement and maintaining this throughout the exercise
- You should feel a burn while training abs properly; persist through that burn so that a muscular adaptation is permitted after providing that stimulus for growth
